Charity & Sustainability

At Henry Dannell, we understand the importance of giving back. For every mortgage completion, we donate a percentage of our fee to key causes – causes that sustain our planet, contribute to the prevention of climate change, and help those in need.

We are sustainable

The restoration and protection of Earth’s forests are crucial to sustaining our planet and its communities. By donating a percentage of our fees to the International Tree Foundation we are able to support its mission of planting trees all over the world to transform landscapes, as well as lives.

Over the last 10 years, the International Tree Foundation has worked with people across the globe to plant over 5 million trees.

Why trees?

  • By absorbing and storing carbon dioxide (CO2), trees are the most powerful natural resource for tackling the climate crisis
  • Planting trees can help communities to develop by restoring and conserving local resources, and through related income generation and increased resilience to climate change
  • Trees improve soil and air quality, as well as help to prevent flooding and erosion
  • Expansive green spaces can promote greater social interaction and a stronger sense of community
  • Woodland makes up just 13% of the total land area in the UK (Forest Research Woodland Statistics, 31 March 2022), one of the least densely forested European nations (FAO Global Forest Resources Assessment 2015) – the International Tree Foundation works around the world, with a particular focus on Africa and the UK

Giving to those in need

As a business built upon family values, an important aspect of our journey is working with causes that are close to our hearts.

We are proud to support three fantastic charities, two of which work to better the futures of children born with disabilities. To understand more about these charities, or to donate, you can visit each charity's page via the links below:

Brainwave Charity

Brainwave
''Helping children with disabilities reach their potential through specialist Therapy Programmes, delivered by qualified specialists."

STXBP foundation charity

STXBP1 Foundation
''Dedicated to raising awareness and finding a cure for STXBP1, a rare neurodevelopment condition and genetic epilepsy."

Both causes mean a lot to us, particularly to our co-founding Director, Geoff Garrett. Geoff’s beautiful daughter, Hannah, was diagnosed with STXBP1 Disorder at the age of 14. It is a rare genetic disorder, discovered in 2008 and thought to affect 1 in 30,000.

Our aim is to raise awareness, to offer children and their families the support they require, by connecting them with STXBP1 Foundation and Brainwave. The STXBP1 Foundation community works hard to raise money in support of finding a cure for this rare genetic disorder. Brainwave works closely with children with disabilities, to provide specialist therapies and programmes to help improve their communication skills and mobility, which promotes greater independence.

Support Through Court

Support through the court logoWe are also proud to donate to Support Through Court – a charity that offers guidance, advice and support to those facing court alone, enabling them to have the fairest possible hearing.

Individuals that find themselves facing such challenges often have no way of understanding how to navigate their way through the complex legal system. The volunteers at Support Through Court are there to provide practical, procedural and emotional support in many areas of the Civil and Family court processes. The service offered helps to make these tough situations a little more manageable.
